The icon of the Verde Valley is, of course, the Verde River which is truly an emerald jewel of the American Southwest. The River is the continued focus of riparian conservation efforts and projects. Learn more about the River by clicking here.

Added bonus!!
We are open all year. Winter is warm and sunny here and the birds like it.
You will find excellent birding here – especially during April and May. The Verde Valley Birding And Nature Festival is always held on the last week on April for that very reason. There is more that just great birding. The Verde Valley is an emerging tourist town because of its proximity to Sedona, Arizona and there is an active Chamber of Commerce as well as many hotels and BnB options.  But, most of all, this is a world class birding valley – check out the EBird information on each of our hotspots. Look at our interactive map and see how easy it is to reach our hotspots. There is no need for off-road vehicles here.
